Elementary School Virtual School Options
Public virtual elementary school programs are hosted in Florida school districts. These programs are part of the state mandated public school virtual instructional options for students entering grades kindergarten through grade 12 and who reside in Florida. Prior to enrolling for the programs, careful consideration must be given to the choice of virtual education for each child and family. The parent or guardian must carefully review the program, then attend a mandatory orientation session prior to enrolling in one of the state Virtual Instruction Programs (VIP) sponsored in Palm Beach County. Elementary Options are listed below.
Eligibility to participate in Virtual Instruction Programs for all grade levels
In order to enroll in a Palm Beach Elementary Virtual School program the student must reside in Florida.
A parent or guardian (Learning Coach) must be with the student during each school day to provide services as a Learning Coach. Online attendance is required 5 days a week.
Statutes require that full-time virtual school students participate in Florida State Assessments (FSA) and local assessments including iReady, Unify and K-3 assessments on District specified calendar days. The FSAs must be taken in person on State determined dates, in the school district of virtual enrollment. Home Education and Private School students are not required to participate in the state and local assessments through these programs.
Kindergarten Entry Requirements
In accordance with Florida Statute § 1003.21(1)(a)2, entering Kindergarten students must attain the age of five years on or before September 1 of the school year for which entry is sought.
Grade 1 Entry Requirements
In accordance with Florida Statute § 1003.21(1)(b), entering 1st Grade students must attain the age of six years on or before September 1 of the school year for which entry is sought. Students who have been enrolled in a public Kindergarten must progress according to the District’s Student Progression Plan. Students transferring from nonpublic and Home Education Kindergartens must attain the age of six on or before September 1 of the school year for which entry is sought and must have written verification of satisfactory completion of Kindergarten requirements from the nonpublic school or have Home Education progression documentation.
HOME EDUCATION and PRIVATE SCHOOL OPTIONS
Home education and private school students may enroll in virtual education courses and retain their home education status. These students will receive the same program, teachers and instruction as full-time students. Home Education and Private School students are not required to participate in the state assessments as a part of virtual school programs.

Accelerated Option for Elementary Students to take 6th Grade Math
As a component of our District Elementary Accelerated Math Program (AMP), eligible students requiring math acceleration to the middle school level can elect to receive instruction online through Palm Beach Virtual School.
The Acceleration Project provides a teacher who monitors the student progress, provides feedback to performance, and communicates with parents regarding the student's work.
Please contact Assistant Principal Juliana Davis via email at email@example.com for assistance with enrolling your child.
Miami Dade Option
Palm Beach and Miami Dade School Districts have a reciprocity agreement which provides an option for parents in both districts. If you are interested in this option and are a resident of Palm Beach County, please call Debra Johnson, Principal, at (561) 366-6132 for more information.
